Договоры между правительством США и индейскими племенами; закрепляли права каждой стороны на определенные земли; устанавливали союзнические и иные отношения между ними, учреждали резервации и определяли компенсацию (в том числе в виде обязательств правительства США) племенам за уступаемые ими США земли. 371 договор, подписанный в 1778-1868, ратифицирован Конгрессом. Закон о присоединении индейских земель [Indian Appropriation Act] (1871) запретил оформление договорных отношений с племенами, однако договоры подписывались до 1881. Все они нарушались американской стороной, и племена в своей современной борьбе добиваются компенсаций и соблюдения положений договоров
